CS Ramadan Iftar Gathering
CS Ramadan Iftar Gathering
A relaxed, spontaneous Iftar event designed to appreciate chapter members, foster networking, and build community through interactive games, creative activities, and a shared meal.
After finalizing all preparations, the highly anticipated Ramadan Iftar took place at Uruk Study House. This venue was strategically chosen for its central location and easy accessibility via various public transportation routes directly across from the University of Jordan.
The primary goal of the event was to step away from formal technical workshops and cultivate a relaxed, spontaneous environment for the IEEE Computer Society chapter. The gathering served as a token of appreciation, rewarding the members for their hard work and dedication over the past months. Furthermore, it provided a valuable opportunity for attendees to network, socialize, and build stronger interpersonal connections, bridging the gap created by a lack of recent on-site meetings.
The evening featured a well-rounded schedule of engaging programming:
Icebreakers and Games: The event kicked off with interactive group activities, including the game "Mafia," as well as rounds of Jenga and Kahoot later in the evening.
Creative Activities: A dedicated creative space was provided where female colleagues enjoyed a special activity painting on canvases.
Welcoming Gifts: To foster a warm atmosphere, attendees were given special greeting cards. One side featured a Du'a and Athkar, while the reverse displayed a pixel-art design with a QR code linking to the chapter's social media platforms.
For the main Iftar meal, a catering order was placed with Brosto, offering attendees a choice of Smoked, Classic, or Spicy burgers. This was followed by a highly popular dessert selection from Planet Donuts. The remainder of the evening was spent enjoying the food, chatting, and strengthening the bonds within the community.
As the Membership Development (MD) team, our core responsibility was to oversee the activity schedule, facilitate member engagement, and ensure the event space remained organized and ran smoothly. Executing this large-scale social event was a remarkable success and provided the team with a profound learning experience in community building and event management.
