Cybersecurity Workshop

The cybersecurity workshop was presented by Saif Makharzeh, a cybersecurity specialist with over eight years of experience in penetration testing. The session provided participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical insights into the cybersecurity field. The workshop introduced the roles of Red Team, Blue Team, and Purple Team, explaining how Red Teams simulate cyberattacks, Blue Teams focus on defense and incident response, and Purple Teams improve collaboration between offensive and defensive security operations. The session also discussed Bug Bounty programs and how students can participate through platforms such as Bugcrowd. A practical demonstration was conducted using Hack The Box, where participants learned how to connect to a target machine using OpenVPN and perform network scanning with Nmap. The instructor also shared a recommended learning roadmap for beginners and suggested pursuing certifications such as eJPTv2. The session concluded with a giveaway for several students and a special discount for members of the IEEE Computer Society, followed by an open Q&A discussion. Overall, the workshop was informative and beneficial for students interested in cybersecurity and penetration testing.
